RESERVED FOR HAZEL

A one of a kind warm bronze wax seal charm. Made with an impressions of an 18th century wax seal featuring the latin motto "LABOIRS FULCIMENTUM" meaning "support of labor" or "the prop of work/toil" a seal to celebrate the fruits of labour in the harvest season! On the reverse is a modern wax seal, hand carved in our workshop. It is inspired by the medieval European depictions of a female mandrakes and is set with two orange cubic zirconia eyes. In folklore, when pulled from the earth, the mandrake root was said to shriek and scream and kill anyone who heard it! The lore goes that dogs were trained to pull up the magical mandrake so human ears could avoid its deadly scream.

Some believed that mandrake grew in the ground under gallows, fed by the fluids from the bodies of the dead. As the root was thought to resemble a human body herbalists would carve the long mandrake tap roots into human like figures as good luck charms for fertility and protection.

The antique English style sterling silver swivelling 'dog clip' allows you to clip onto a suitable chain, necklace or stacked with other charms or pendants for a custom look.

US and EU CUSTOMERS

Due to tariffs imposed by the US government in 2025, a 10% tariff fee will automatically be added to your postage costs at checkout. For EU customers, unfortunately due to new EU law passed in 2024 we are unable to sell to countries within the European Union. This new law has made it almost impossible for small businesses like ours to sell to the EU due to strict requirements and cost. We are so very sorry about this.
